It’s hard to imagine just how much Japan and it’s people have been through in the course of our lifetime.  World war II, two atomic bombs, a decade long depression, devastating earthquakes, tsunamis and yet Japan still rises up.  Today Japan is the world’s third largest economy, it sets the bar in technology, industrialization, manufacturing and some of the most modern cityscapes you can find. Japan’s influence is felt throughout the world in a soft and subtle kind of way. Your first glimpse of Japan it may appear exceedingly modern. Large populated megacities, some of the world’s most sophisticated public transportation systems and an almost overwhelming amount of flashing lights and billboards that compared to Times Square one would say, nice try New York. But with all the lights, noise and hustle and bustle one can still find solitude and beauty in the many urban parks and zen gardens.

Experiencing the city life is a must for any traveller to Japan, Kyoto and Tokyo will turn your imagination inside out, upside down and sideways. There is endless possibilities of things to do and the food is amazing. But perhaps what grab hold of most travelers is Japan’s countryside. Comprised of of over 6800 islands and with over 70% of the country covered in mountains Japan is an outdoor adventurous dream. World class skiing in the winter, amazing hiking in the warm months, cherry blossoms, huge volcans to test your climbing endurance, ancient forests with cedar trees dating back more than 2000 years and beautiful beaches for the sun worshipers. Japan has captivated and enthralled the traveler who is getting their passport stamped for the first time to the traveler who’s passport looks like a worn torn classic novel.  It’s time to go.

"Having booked with The Escape Artist multiple times (Peru, Costa Rica, Kenya, Galapagos Islands) I knew that I wanted them to work with my girlfriends Mom on a family trip to Greece. John and Katie met us all out to go over the goals of the trip, like always. They built us a package based on our likes and dislikes, and they nailed it! Best part, mid trip wanted to alter our vacation a bit and spend more time in Mykonos. A simple email directly to them and everything was solved! They are fun to work with, but also amazing at what they do! Highly recommend giving them a shot!"
